    Show answer

    Answer: D. 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  4. Speed and following distance

Question 4. Unless signs show otherwise, what are the maximum and minimum speed limits on a Michigan freeway?

    Show answer

Answer: B. 70 mph maximum, 55 mph minimum

Michigan freeways default to a 70 mph maximum and a 55 mph minimum. School buses and trucks are held to 65 mph there, or 55 mph where the freeway limit is below 70.

  5. Sharing the road

Question 5. An ambulance is stopped on the shoulder with its lights flashing. What does Michigan law require as you approach?

    Show answer

Answer: A. Slow to at least 10 mph below the posted limit and move over a lane if traffic allows

Answer: D. At least 20 feet from the bus

  7. Turns and lanes

Question 7. At an intersection built with a Michigan Left, how do you turn left?

Michigan Lefts, also called indirect left turns, ban the direct left at the intersection. Drivers continue through or turn right, then use the median crossover. Treat an unmarked crossover as one lane.

Michigan permit test questions people ask

Do Michigan teens take a permit test?

Not at a Secretary of State office. A Michigan teen's written test comes at the end of driver education Segment 1, where the state exam has to be passed with at least 70%. Segment 2 ends with a second state exam held to the same 70% mark.

Applicants 18 and older take the Secretary of State knowledge test, road signs included, free at an office or online for $6.50. It comes in English and other languages, in audio and written formats. The pages OneTryPass checked give no question count, so none is quoted here.

How old do you have to be to get a learner's license in Michigan?

Segment 1 opens at 14 years and 8 months, with a parent's or guardian's permission, and the Level 1 Learner's License can be issued at 14 years and 9 months. Segment 1 packs in at least 24 classroom hours, 6 hours behind the wheel and 4 hours observing from a training vehicle.

Driver education has been mandatory for Michigan drivers under 18 since 1955, when Michigan became the first state to require it.

What are the rules for a Michigan Level 1 and Level 2 license?

A Level 1 driver always has a licensed parent, guardian or designated adult 21 or older in the front seat and, under Kelsey's Law, makes no calls except in an emergency. After three months and 30 logged hours, two of them at night, the teen can start Segment 2.

The skills test needs six months with Level 1, 50 logged hours with 10 at night and a clean record for the previous 90 days. The Level 2 Intermediate License, available at 16, bars driving from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and carrying more than one passenger under 21, with exceptions for family, work, authorized activities and a supervising adult.
