About OneTryPass
OneTryPass is a practice site for four US tests — the state DMV permit test, the CDL permit test, the 2025 US citizenship civics test and state real estate license exams — with each state's official test rules and the source and date for every fact. Not affiliated with the DMV, FMCSA, USCIS or any state agency.
What OneTryPass is not
- OneTryPass is not a DMV, the FMCSA, USCIS or a state real estate commission, and it is not affiliated with any government agency.
- It does not issue permits, licenses or citizenship, does not schedule tests and does not promise a passing score.
- Official handbooks and study guides are free on each agency's website. Every state page on OneTryPass links to them.
How we check every rule
Each fact on a state page, such as a passing score, a minimum age or a fee, comes from the agency's own website or official handbook. We read the page, write the rule in plain English, and keep a record of the exact wording it rests on and the date we read it. That date appears next to the fact.
When an agency site can't be read from our location, we use a capture of that same page from the Internet Archive that is no more than 60 days old, and link to it as an “archived copy”.
Rules expire. For the DMV pages we re-check knowledge test every 120 days, minimum age every 365 days, fees every 90 days, if you fail every 180 days, permit rules every 365 days, what to bring every 180 days, test appointments every 60 days, official handbook every 180 days. A fact that passes its date without being read again is removed from the page by the next daily update, and a state page that falls below its minimum set of facts drops out of search results until it is checked again.
When a number isn't written on an official page, we leave it out. That is why some states show no question count: their DMV pages state the passing score but not the number of questions.
Where the practice questions come from
OneTryPass writes its own DMV, CDL and real estate questions from the rules in each official handbook and, for the CDL, in the federal regulations (49 CFR), and each question names the section it is based on. We don't copy handbook text or questions from other practice sites. The citizenship practice uses the official USCIS civics questions, which are public.
How OneTryPass makes money
Sample questions and every state's rules are free. Full practice packs are a one-time payment processed by Stripe; see pricing. Full refund within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked. Payments never decide which facts appear about a state.
